Francis Drake
Have you ever read about Francis Drake’s adventures? They say he was a hero to the English and a
pirate to the Spanish.
It is true to fact.
On August 9, 1573 every body rushed to Plymouth harbors. They were happy to
greet Francis Drake, a daring young sea-captain, who came back from a
crusade against Spain. During his visit to Spanish harbor Cartagena he put
all the Spanish ships to the torch and have stolen the treasure from them.
In
July 1579 he raided Spanish settlements on the Pacific coast of America.
On April, 1581 Captain
Drake was produced in the knights on the deck of the “Golden Hind” by Queen
Elizabeth.
Six years later on April 21, 1587 Sir Francis destroyed part of the Spanish
fleet.
He sank thirty large ships and burnt thousands of tons of supplies.
But the chain of his great victories was not interrupted.
On August 3, 1588 Drake made the Spanish Armada flee away from the English
fleet.
Drake died on January 29, 1595 in the Caribbean Sea and was buried in it.
